Amels is currently the largest superyacht builder in the Netherlands and is among the absolute top in the world. Craftsmanship, design, quality and complexity are factors that distinguish our yachts. these are also the main factors that motivate our employees. Amels is located in Vlissingen and offers an excellent future for young, ambitious (technical) professionals.
AMELS is part of the damen Shipyards Group, which brings a lot of opportunities. Within this group there is plenty of room for self-development through internships, traineeships and training courses.
AMELS has two divisions: Limited Editions and Refit. With the successful Limited Editions business model, AMELS started a unique and very successful concept in this segment of superyacht building in 2004. Small numbers of top quality yachts that can be individually customised on various aspects, such as the interior. These are unique thanks to the high quality and short delivery time.
Refit is the division where minor to major maintenance takes place. Major maintenance can mean that yachts undergo complete modernisation, including a new interior or even the extension of a yacht.
The location of the yard in Vlissingen, Zeeland is ideal. In direct connection with the North Sea, the yard is easily accessible for yachts. The region is very diverse and has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, culture, recreation and (water) sports. did you know that this part of Zeeland has the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands? Middelburg is the provincial capital of Zeeland and is 5 km from Vlissingen. With its charming historic centre, this is the place where lovers of shopping, nightlife, cinema or culture feel at home. Vlissingen is also easily accessible by train or motorway.
Richard Sturm, Installation Technician
I first heard about AMELS as a boy of 13 years old. I saw the yard then as a large company with a wonderful product. When I was in the fourth year of secondary education I completed my internship at AMELS and I was sold. At 15 years old, I also started as an apprentice installation technician at AMELS. After first completing a year of training, I was ready to be part of the production personnel. What makes AMELS so unique and attractive is its gorgeous product being built here. Attention to detail and perfectionism are key. Also interesting at AMELS are the development opportunities, so you always face new challenges. In the first years of employment of AMELS you work for a while at different departments. So you get a broad training and in the end you’re an allrounder. That makes it more fun to work at AMELS. The product, the atmosphere and working environment mean many more enjoyable years working at AMELS!
Joppe Osté Marine Engineer
While completing his MSc. Marine Engineering at Delft, the University of Technology, Joppe is working in the design department at AMELS. Before this, he completed his Bachelor Mechanical Engineering at HZ in Vlissingen. He will soon graduate and then go to work at AMELS fulltime as a marine engineer in the design department. “The diversity of my role is unique. I have to deal with many different systems. From pure ship systems to pool and helicopter systems. Shipbuilding is a bit in my blood, so it’s nice to work for a company that builds such incredibly beautiful ships. In addition, there is a great atmosphere at AMELS. There are a lot of young people and you can sense the innovation here every day.”
